KayJona Rogers, American chef, caterer. As a kid she always had an adventurous attitude when it came to trying things. She developed a passion for forensic science and decided to attend University at Buffalo as a PreMed student. After failing her second semester she quickly realized that the path to being a medical examiner was not for her. Having to quickly decide on what to do KayJona went on to obtain her BA in Mental Health Spring 2019.

Post grad, KayJona started to feel depressed because she didn’t have a job, which ultimately meant that she had no income. In the midst of trying to decide what she wanted to do, she remembered the talents of cooking was right at her fingertips. She would cook food at home and post pictures on to her social media platforms. The feedback from people all over the world encouraged her to begin selling food as a start to what has gone viral. While selling plates her business name shortly came after, what she wanted to leave her customers with, a “Taste of Kay”.

In the midst of starting up her business, KayJona got the opportunity to attend a culinary program that was offered by Foodlink. Foodlink gave people the opportunity to receive their culinary certificates and gain knowledge about the culinary field. The program was a year long and introduced her to a side of culinary she soon began to fall in love with. Her first restaurant experience was working as a line cook at Black and Blue. She didn’t quite like the field and decided owning her own business and focusing on her brand is what she wanted to do.

KayJona has been catering private events, universities, schools, and so many more.

“My vision is to still continuously strive to build upon providing exemplary dishes and deserts and top customer service that’ll land Taste of Kay growing worldwide.”
